Where can I rent Scuba gear outfits near Anna Maria Island.?
I love finding sand dollars at Anna Maria Island. The only problem is I can’t hold my breath in 10 ft water very long. So I would like to know of any cheap scuba gear near there for a couple people. (do you have to have a certificate to rent the gear?) Thank you all.
Yes, you have to be certified to rent both the gear and to have a tank filled. You could always snorkel it instead.

Are there extra unexpected charges on a Disney Cruise?
I am planning on taking my family on a Disney cruise in Oct. I see all the different activities. Do some require an additional charge, i.e. spa treatment. Or, is it all part of the package. They did mention that you can rent scubba gear on the island.
The price of your cruise includes your cabin, all meals (except the specialty restaurants), all shows and entertainment, and use of all facilities on ship. The things that you will have to pay for once you are on the ship are:
Gratuities: They will amount to about $10 per person in your cabin per day; about $70 each for the week. When you check in at the pier they will set up an on-board charge account for you to cover any and everything you may buy on ship. They will issue you a “cruise card” which will also serve as your room key and pass to get on and off the ship. At the end of the cruise they will add the gratuity to your tab and you can pay with a credit card or cash, your choice.
Alcoholic drinks: Coffee, tea, soft drinks, milk, juice, and lemonade and punch will be provided free but you must pay for drinks (alcoholic beverages) and they will add a 15% gratuity to each drink order. They will also charge for bottled water.
Photographs: Cruise lines will take plenty of photographs of you all over the ship, in the dining room, and as you exit the ship in ports. The photos will cost a lot, like $15 to $20 for most.
Tours/Excursions: These are listed on your cruise line web site and you can reserve them well before the cruise and pay for them also. If you wait until you are on ship to book tours they will be charged to your on board account (then you can pay cash to settle your account on the last day). The tours and excursions will add the most to your on board account as they usually start at about $40. per person and can be as much as $100 or more per person for some. If you stop at an island you can usually rent Snorkel Equipment, water trikes, jet skis, small two-people sail boats, go para-sailing and a few other things for a fee. These are usually not charged to your on board account; cash or credit card.
Souvenirs: Anything you buy on ship from a gift shop or duty free shop goes on your on board account. Things that you buy on shore you pay cash or credit card for.
Other: most cruise lines have what they call “specialty” restaurants where there is a gratuity/service charge. All other food on board is free and its not really necessary to budget for food; you cannot eat all that will be available.
–If you want/need to have your hair done, get a massage or wrap, or any services from the spa, you will have to pay for them. You can use the gym free but the spa stuff cost big bucks. Massages and wraps are generally in the range of $80 to $100, some even more.
–Ships now have internet cafe and some have WiFi but the there is a fee for internet access and it is very expensive (like about $50 to $60 an hour).
–You cabin will likely have a minibar with soft drinks and munchies; you have to pay for them (but there is free room service 24/7).

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A gear is a rotating machine part having cut teeth, or cogs, which mesh with another toothed part in order to transmit torque. Two or more gears working in tandem are called a transmission and can produce a mechanical advantage through a gear ratio and thus may be considered a simple machine. Geared devices can change the speed, magnitude, and direction of a power source. The most common situation is for a gear to mesh with another gear, however a gear can also mesh a nonrotating toothed part, thereby producing translation instead of rotation. The gears in a transmission are analogous to the wheels in a pulley. An advantage of gears is that the teeth of a gear prevent slipping. When two gears of unequal number of teeth are combined a mechanical advantage is produced, with both the rotational speeds and the torques of the two gears differing in a simple relationship. In transmissions which offer multiple gear ratios, such as bicycles and cars, the term gear, as in first gear, refers to a gear ratio rather than an actual physical gear. One day an Irishman who had been stranded on a deserted island for over 10 years, saw a speck on the horizon. He thought to himself, “It’s certainly not a ship.” And, as the speck got closer and closer, he began to rule out the possibilities of a small boat and even a raft.
Suddenly there emerged from the surf a wet-suited black clad figure. Putting aside the Scuba gear and the top of the wet suit, there stood a drop-dead gorgeous blonde!
The glamorous blonde strode up to the stunned Irishman and said to him, “Tell me, how long has it been since you’ve had a good cigar.” “Ten years,” replied the amazed Irishman. With that, she reached over and unzipped a waterproof pocket on the left sleeve of her wetsuit and pulled out a fresh package of cigars. He takes one, lights it, and takes a long drag. “Faith and begorrah,” said the man, “that is so good I’d almost forgotten how great a smoke can be!”
“And how long has it been since you’ve had a drop of good Powers Irish Whiskey?”

Where can I find good deals on Scuba gear and what should I be getting?
I just became SCUBA and Nitrox certified in the fall and am trying to find a way to get some of my own gear. Because I want to practice nautical archaeology for a career, I need to have all my own gear in order to volunteer at excavations, but being a college student, I can’t exactly afford top of the line.
Looking online, I’ve found a lot of “wetsuit packages” and that sort of thing that seem like they would be promising. But I’m not sure what IS a deal and what isn’t– or rather, what the typical prices for each piece of equipment should be.
I prefer a bladder BC like a backpack to the inflatable vests. If I have nothing but a mask, snorkel, fins, and booties, WHAT DO I NEED (not including air tanks) and what sorts of features should I be looking for on everything?
So you want a tech harness for a BC? You just bumped up your budget by at least 300 bucks over most BC’s. Then when you factor in pockets and integrated lead, another 200-300 bucks.
Sounds to me like you’re best off hitting some local Dive Shops, especially those that have in house dive clubs since as soon as someone mentions the word “deal”, that’s about the only place you’ll get one. They’ll usually have used gear on consignment, it will have been inspected by the shop and will be in good condition.
What do you need? Well, how much are you willing to spend and what are you willing to rent? Sorry, but this is up to you. I spent 3 grand right off the bat and was more or less fully equipped.
Tech rig BC ( which is what you asked about), about 800 bucks minimum. Going doubles? Add 125-175 bucks for a back plate. Manifold? 300 bucks. Regs? 400-1500 bucks.
Wet suit? 700 bucks cold water. Dry suit? You’re starting at 1000 bucks to 2 grand. Booties, gloves and hood? Another 150 bucks. Dive Knife? 80-150 bucks. Dive Computer ( pretty well a must have these days and you’re nitrox) 300 bucks-2 grand. Ideally you’ll want a 3 gas model but a 2 gas will do. Wreck reel? 60 -200 bucks.
See where I’m going here? I have no clue as to your actual budget. Prices vary widely depending on manufacturer and even where you buy a particular piece.
Wetsuit packages? You don’t mention the temperature of water you plan on doing your Diving In. About 200 bucks difference there usually between 5mm and 7mm fulls.
Your “best deal” is gear that fits you, does what you want it to do when you want it to do it and does it safely. I really can’t advise you on particular gear types or manufacturers unless I know a budget and what temps you’ll be diving.

What are good equipment needs to get to a geocache that i want to make?
Now when i say this i don’t like rock climbing gear and scube diving gear but i mean more of stratagy thinking skills that you need to know to get to.
The reason why i am asking is because one of the caches which i found on the website has used archemedes principle in order to get to it.
The way that it works is that you need 5litre bottle of water and fill it up a tube to get the cache to float to the top.
I want to use something like that for my next geocache which i am gonna make.
Any ideas for this clever thought cache.
You might want to place the cache near a source of water such as a stream or lake and make an additional “hide” tied into the cache page of a container to recover the water and bring it to the actual cache. I assume you already know what is required to construct the cache itself.
